About Redshift
Welcome to Redshift by Autodesk. Why the name Redshift? Astronomers use the word redshift to measure how far away an object is traveling. When an object moves away from the earth, it appears redshifted; the wavelength of its light is stretched into lower frequencies, which makes it look red.
Scientists have discovered that the universe is continuously expanding, which means that light from most galaxies appears redshifted. And as the universe expands, so does the Redshift editorial team’s aim to move with it—at the forefront of digital transformation in the architecture, construction, infrastructure, and manufacturing industries. We want to help designers, engineers, contractors, and manufacturers to design and make a better and more sustainable world for future generations.
How did we get here? In 2013, Autodesk launched Line//Shape//Space to inspire, inform, and assist small businesses in the architecture, infrastructure, construction, and manufacturing industries.
Since then, the publication’s charter expanded and rebranded to include businesses of all sizes and to explore the future of how products, buildings, and cities will be built tomorrow—and even 100 years from now.
In 2022, Redshift merged with Autodesk’s executive thought-leadership publication, Converge. Today’s Redshift is dedicated to high-quality executive thought-leadership content that aims to inspire and inform you while supporting your business’s growth.
With accelerating technological advancements in artificial intelligence, digital twins, generative design, extended reality, industrialized construction, and so on, the very nature of design and make is shifting. Designers, engineers, builders, and manufacturers are no longer confined to traditional ideas and processes. The landscape has redshifted. So what does the future hold? Stay tuned to Redshift find out.
Redshift is supported by Autodesk, a global leader in design and make technology and software tools. With expertise across architecture, engineering, construction, design, manufacturing, and entertainment, Autodesk helps innovators everywhere solve today’s pressing challenges.
